As Australian authorities crack down on the importation of asbestos, imported vehicles undergo strict vehicle asbestos testing from border control. In 2003, Australia imposed a country-wide ban on the manufacture and use of all forms of asbestos, which included preventing the unlawful importation of asbestos.
That means that, if your vehicle is found to contain asbestos, you could be fined. Luckily, The Shipper can make the whole process easy for you
so that’s one less thing for you to worry about.
When you’re importing cars into Australia, how can you be sure it’s free of asbestos traces? We work with IANZ/NATA/MRA accredited labs to test samples from your vehicle.
We then provide you with a certified inspection report, which can be presented to the Australian Border Force agency on arrival of your vehicle.
If the Australian Border Force (ABF) identifies an imported vehicle as being at risk of containing asbestos, you will have to provide assurance that the vehicle - or any of its parts - doesn’t contain asbestos.
The Shipper provides a testing process that meets Australian requirements, so you can be confident that any asbestos is identified and removed before your vehicle is shipped. It’s essential that you don’t skip this step, as unlawfully imported asbestos can lead to prosecution and/or fines.
